All you “greenies” are going to be jealous…

So last week while I was up in San Jose I flew in early to catch up with my buddy Don who lives up there.  He had emailed me asking if I wanted to be picked up at the airport in the Mini or the Smart Car.  SMART CAR BABY!

A lot smaller than a Mini!

Did I mention that Don is kind of a big guy?

Yep, I got to drive it!  It was like tooling around in a golf cart!

He must have bought it for the hippie chicks as it wasn’t the gas mileage…33/41 mpg, according to the EPA’s 2008 standards.

Better than 8 mpg you get in your Tahoe…

Obviously on the Tahoe…my point is that if you want a small car to save the environment, get a Honda Civic Hybrd to get 45 MPG and a backseat. You buy a Smart Car because it’s trendy. I’m sure our friend Don is up with the trends that the hippie chicks go for.

So do you really NEED a Tahoe is it status? Are the kids THAT big? 🙂 Actually, as a savvy investor yourself you should know that Don could probably sell the car for three grand more than he paid since he spent a year on the waiting list AND it is trendy. It’s an investment!

Not that the SmartCar needs to be defended…. don’t need a backseat-space is a premium. When considering the environment the carbon foot print is the best measure. What will we do with all the batteries from all these Hybrids??? Oh, BTW just filled up my SmartCar for $35 and the mixed city/freeway (mostly rush-hour commute) was 38 MPG. 🙂 all the way to the bank, at the gas pump, and sitting in the little parking spot that only I can get into!!

Just got done driving my Yukon to and from Newport Beach. Since I don’t believe that humans cause global warming, I’m not feeling too guilty about all that carbon I emitted. I was also feeling very safe in all of the at nasty LA traffic. I like the Yukon’s “girth” in case I ever get stuck in one of those nasty multi-car pile-ups on the freeway. I do like the idea of cleaning up the air so that it is easier to breathe. I’m hearing that in a couple of years the electric cars will be all the rage. Hopefully they can recycle the batteries for these and the hybrids. Is the Smart Car also made of biodegradable material? Or is it mostly plastic? I read below that the Geo Metro is again a hot commodity on the resale market.
